Connoisseurship and Collection: Panel Discussion & Book Launch

March 16, 2019

 6:30pm- 8:30pm

At a time when art is often seen as a financial strategy, what it means to be a connoisseur who collects for passion and pleasure, instead of profit, becomes increasingly important. In this sense, a connoisseur approaches art like a cultural historian, rather than as just a buyer. How can art collecting connect us to past and present aesthetic ideals, more inclusive histories, and the immense riches of human creativity, and how might this shape the nature of an art collection? Join us for a discussion moderated by Boon Hui Tan, Vice President of Global Arts & Cultural Programs and Director of Asia Society Museum, with collectors of Indian art Kent CharugundlaKito de BoerSunil Hirani, and Dipti Mathur.  This program will be followed by a book signing and reception. >more info on the upcoming event.
