Vivienne Tam Spring Summer 2017 NYFW Recap
Vivienne Tam’s Spring Summer 2017 collection is like nothing we have seen before. After a visit to Houston, Vivienne was inspired by the vibrant diversity and energy of the city. The charm of Houston has created an attraction to people of all ages, races and backgrounds, creating an abundance of diversity for Vivienne to create a vision from.
Vivienne drew inspiration from iconic Houston attractions such as NASA, Rice University, Houston Ballet and the Houston Rodeo, also touching on Houston’s ecological diversity and its beautiful wildlife, showcasing native wild flowers, butterflies, pink spoonbills, armadillos and bayou-outlined patterns, which were embroidered or printed on her fabrics.
The collection features 43 unique looks with electrifying colors, textured overlays and handcrafted embroideries, showcasing everything from ruffled sleeves and wide-legged pants with fringes, to denim and canvas jackets along with dresses with fitted waists and flared skirts, and modern body-skimming tunics with metallic thread or teeming with sequins. Vivienne complemented the looks with suede, fringed bags and slip-ons printed with Houston imagery. These accessories lent a free-spirited and sporty feel to her SS2017 collection.
Vivienne hopes this collection will shine a spotlight on the multicultural cornucopia that is Houston, and emphasize the arts, music, culinary arts, science and technology that are all overlapping harmoniously…contributing to the beautiful diversity of the city.
